A crime film directed by Clint Eastwood is available on Netflix, and it continues to appeal to genre fans more than two decades after its release. It's a thriller centered on the hunt for an enigmatic serial killer, also starring the man behind such great works as Million Dollar Baby and Jury No. 2 .
This is Blood Debt , a 2002 title that Eastwood himself also promoted as a producer . The story, based on the novel of the same name by Michael Connelly, follows retired agent Terry McCaleb, who finds himself drawn into a personal investigation after suffering a heart attack.

McCaleb is a veteran FBI investigator on the trail of a psychopath dubbed by the media as "the Code Killer." After the latest murder, Terry visits the crime scene and discovers him in the crowd. A manhunt then begins that will lead to a heart attack and his retirement from active duty.
The transplanted heart belonged to a murdered woman , and her sister asks for her help to uncover what happened. From there, a classic plot unfolds, where the protagonist's fragile health adds constant tension.
A minor work? The film marked Eastwood's final foray into the crime genre, which has so often defined his career since Dirty Harry . Accompanied by a strong cast, including Jeff Daniels, Anjelica Huston , and Wanda De Jesús, the veteran filmmaker managed to give a twilit look to a plot that combines crime, guilt, and redemption .
The film, which was shot in a record time of just over a month in Los Angeles and Long Beach, won the Future Film Festival Digital Award at the Venice Film Festival , although its box office run failed to cover its production costs.
With mixed reviews, Blood Debt isn't among the director's greatest hits, but years later, it maintains its narrative pulse and emotional impact. It's ideal for those interested in completing Eastwood's filmography, and for those seeking psychological thrillers with depth and a signature touch.
